If using a standard plastic button face, inspect it for a missing nut. If necessary, replace the hex nut in the hexagonal indent on the face of the button.

Place a washer onto a screw and insert it into the hole from the back of the cloth. Place a spacer onto the screw from the front of the cloth. With one hand holding the screw, attach the button face to the screw by turning the button clockwise ().
Tighten by hand. Then, using the screwdriver, tighten as much as possible. When the button is attached properly, it should not be able to spin freely. Instead, the cloth should be sandwiched between the button and the screw so tightly it won’t move when twisted or shaken.
