The cap removable button has a shank, or stem, that creates space between the button and the cloth it is attached to. Buttons like these are good for heavy weight materials because the gap permits a thick layer to fit between the button and the underlying cloth.

Install these on medium to heavy woven fabric such as denim.

Measure the buttonhole on your garment to determine which size is best. Generally a button's diameter is 1/4" less than the length of the buttonhole. Properly sized buttons are short enough to slip through easily and long enough to prevent the buttons from coming undone accidentally.
